Baseball bats can be found at most sporting goods stores, but not many people know how much baseball bats typically cost. On average, how much do baseball bats cost?

Baseball bats can cost $15-$400 depending on the type of material the bat is made out of and how long it is. The most common baseball bats are made out of wood, metal, or a hybrid of the two materials. On average, a quality baseball bat will cost $200 no matter what material it is made of.

Now that you know what a quality baseball bat costs on average, you may be wondering what each type of baseball bat costs and how much Major Baseball League players pay for their baseball bats. Keep reading to find out more information!

Average Cost of Wooden Baseball Bats

Wooden baseball bats are the most common type of baseball bat, and they are typically made out of maple, ash, hickory, and birch wood. Maple and hickory are the hardest woods used to make baseball bats, but they are also the most expensive.

Wooden baseball bats range in cost from $7-$180, although you can typically get a quality wooden baseball bat for $30-$40. When you pay for a very expensive baseball bat, you might be paying more for the brand name of the company if it is well-known/reputable. It is great if you do purchase a baseball bat that was made by a reputable company, but you will likely pay more money than you would if you bought a baseball bat that was made by a lesser-known company.

The type and availability of the wood that a baseball bat is made out of heavily influences the price of the baseball bat. If you want a maple baseball bat, then you will pay more money than if you purchased an ash baseball bat.

Average Cost of Metal Baseball Bats

Metal baseball bats cost between $15-$350, but you can typically find quality metal baseball bats for $40-$50. Metal baseball bats are typically made out of aluminum alloy because aluminum is a very light metal and can be very durable depending on the quality of the alloy. Metal baseball bats are also called aluminum bats or alloy bats because they are typically made out of aluminum alloy.

Metal baseball bats don’t have to be broken in like many other baseball bats, so you can use them right after purchase, which is great when you give someone a metal baseball bat as a present.

Metal baseball bats are durable, but they can be damaged while they are in use. They can become dented when they hit a baseball and when they are dropped on a hard surface, so don’t be surprised if that occurs. However, metal baseball bats can still be used when they are damaged, unlike wooden baseball bats, which crack and splinter when they break and can’t be used again. Therefore, you will be able to use a metal baseball bat for a longer period of time than a wooden baseball bat. (Source)

Average Cost of Hybrid Baseball Bats

Hybrid baseball bats are made out of metal and wood and typically cost $150-$400 each. Hybrid baseball bats have a composite handle and a metal alloy barrel. Hybrid bats are very well balanced, but you have to pay a lot of money to get an almost perfectly balanced one.

The composite handle reduces the amount of vibration you feel when a baseball hits the bat, which means that your hands won’t hurt from the vibrations of the ball hitting the baseball bat repeatedly, and you can play baseball for a longer period of time, which is great.

The alloy barrel on a hybrid bat ensures that the bat will last for a very long time because the aluminum alloy used to make baseball bats is very durable.

Hybrid baseball bats can be used in any type of weather, unlike some wooden baseball bats that can break if they are used in colder temperatures.

Although hybrid baseball bats are the most expensive type of baseball bats, they are definitely worth the cost because of how durable they are. However, wooden and metal baseball bats are still more popular than hybrid baseball bats. The main contributing factor to their increased popularity is the price of metal and wooden baseball bats, as they are much cheaper than hybrid baseball bats and are more traditional in the baseball world.

Average Cost of MLB Baseball Bats

Baseball bats that are used by Major League Baseball players are almost always made out of wood and typically cost $100-$200 each. However, MLB players do not typically pay for the baseball bats that they use. Sometimes the team that they are playing for pays for the baseball bats that their players use, but most of the time MLB players are given their bats by the manufacturers of the baseball bats.

Major League Baseball players are often given baseball bats by manufacturers so that the company can get free advertising from a famous baseball player. Many kids want to be just like their idols, and so they will want to purchase the same bat that their favorite player uses. MLB players don’t even have to have an endorsement deal in order to get a free baseball bat. (Source)

Some of the new MLB players do have to pay for their baseball bats, but many teams give their new players quality bats while they train and become more well-known.

MLB bats are typically made out of maple, ash, or birch. However, ash can dry out over time and break when they are hit with a baseball, so maple and birch are more commonly used to make MLB baseball bats. (Source)
